Born and raised in Lafayette, Indiana, Susie grew up with a love for both music and business—two passions that have shaped her life and service. At age 12, she attended an auto race with her father and quickly caught the racing bug. For the next 11 years, she spent summers traveling the country on the USAC midget racing circuit, helping with timing and scoring and enjoying opportunities to meet people from all walks of life. After graduating from high school with majors in business and music, she worked as a bookkeeper and business manager before beginning a 35-year career in banking that took her from Arizona to Ohio and Indiana. She retired in 2013 as a Municipal Bond Administrator.
After retirement, Susie returned to Arizona and settled in Mesa. She began attending Desert Chapel United Methodist Church in 2016 and became a member in 2018. Encouraged by pastors and fellow church members, she became increasingly involved in the life of the church, serving as a choir member, Communion Steward, Liturgist, Worship Leader, Choir Director, and leader of the Congregational Care Team. When she is not serving at church, Susie enjoys reading, participating in Bible studies, traveling, and taking walks with her beloved dog, Max.
